Motion Design Assignment
A motion design project created during my studies at Noroff, focusing on animation principles, timing, and visual storytelling through After Effects.
Year :
2025
Industry :
Motion Design
Client :
University Assignment
Project Duration :
5 weeks

Problem :
The assignment challenged me to create a motion piece that demonstrated technical understanding of animation while still engaging the viewer. The difficulty was to communicate a clear idea in a short time, using visuals and motion alone—without relying on text or heavy narration.
Solution :
I developed a short animated sequence using Adobe After Effects, experimenting with smooth transitions, keyframe timing, and visual rhythm. The design incorporated strong color contrasts, simple shapes, and consistent pacing to make the piece engaging and easy to follow. To reinforce storytelling, I structured the animation with a beginning, middle, and end, creating a mini narrative flow.

Challenge :
One of the main challenges was learning how to balance complexity with clarity. Adding too many effects or movements risked distracting from the message, while too little would feel static. Another hurdle was ensuring smooth rendering and quality playback across different platforms.

Summary :
The motion design assignment allowed me to strengthen my animation skills and explore how motion can enhance communication. It demonstrated my ability to combine technical execution with creative storytelling, resulting in a polished piece that added depth and variety to my portfolio.
